One of our Somerset-based customers managing a 100-head herd of pedigree Ayrshire cattle recently put our After Maize Quick Grow IRG Italian Ryegrass mixture to the test. Despite the poor conditions, following on from a challenging 2025 growing season, persistent poor weather left a far-from-ideal seedbed, raising doubts about whether drilling would be worthwhile.
After consideration, the decision was made to proceed — and the results have exceeded expectations. The mixture established quickly, showing strong, even growth despite the compromised ground conditions. Its vigour and reliability provided valuable grazing and high-quality forage at a time when feed supplies were under pressure.
