A St. Catherine’s Seeds dairy customer asked us and Germinal to visit his farm in Sussex and walk his grassland 3 years ago.
The aim was to identify mixture that would work well on his soil conditions under the South Downs that would hopefully withstand the longer dry periods they have experienced of late and improve the overall performance of his grassland.
They need to aim for maximum milk production to supply their on-farm processing plant into Ice Cream & Yoghurts.
We suggested looking at the St. Catherine’s High Sugar IRG Italian blend for maximum short term silage production, we then we created a bespoke Diploid/ Tetraploid/Timothy/White Clover cutting and grazing mixture.
Our suggestions have been implemented and the results have been great, with good pictures and video being sent over to post.
