- SCS supplied Mr Hewlett with APPIN Stubble Turnip seed
- This Catch crop takes around 8 weeks from planting to grazing.
- Appin is a grazing turnip which is mostly leaf, with a leaf to root ratio of 80/20 and is suitable for multi-grazing.

Appin Stubble Turnips – early growth

Martin’s Turnips are growing well as shown below, but he has had a problem with Flea Beatle attacking part of his crop.
Where this damage was worst Martin has re–drilled with another Green Forage crop, Redstart, which is a Hybrid Brassica. This is quick-growing and will supplement the Appin Turnips in 6-10 weeks time. Things do not always go to plan!
